Working principle of piezoelectric igniter:
Here we shall take the igniter of a kitchen gas hob as an example. The core of its ignition technology lies in the piezoelectric ceramic ignition needle. It primarily consists of piezoelectric igniter ceramic element, electrodes, and a casing. The electrodes connect the power source to the ignition pin, while the casing provides protection.
When the ignition pin is ignited, the electrodes apply voltage to the PZT ceramic crystal. It will cause the piezoelectric effect. Under this effect, a high-voltage electric field is generated in the gap at the ignition pin. When the electric field is sufficiently strong, ions in the air accelerate, generating a shock wave. This shock wave instantly ignites the emitted gas, Finally, it can realize the rapid ignition of the stove. So the piezo igniter ceramic element is the key part material.
